Baby Owls Hatched In March/April 2007

In mid-March two of our Siberian Eagle Owls, Sheba & Free Spirit became the proud parents of two babies. We are still thinking of names for these two, pictured here at just a few days old.

Shortly after our Great Horned & African Spotted Owls, Fred & Lucky (the parents of Angel & Jeebs) became parents for the second time, when Rimmel was hatched. Rimmel was around three weeks old in this picture.

All three babies are now growing up together and coming out to see our visitors. These pictures show them at around 4 weeks old.

On 12th April, we had a further addition to our young ones when this Great Horned Owl was hatched, shown here being hand fed at just two days old. This owl has been named Tuba (thanks to one of our volunteers, Suzanne, after the great horn of the orchestra).

Throughout May, several other birds became parents.

On the right you can see three Siberian x Turkmenian Eagle Owl hybrid chicks hatched earlier in May, being watched over by the adult owls.

Nesting Great Tit Nesting Great Tit In addition to the raptor chicks, a pair of Great Tits have taken up residence in the collection box next to the flying area. The parents are quite content to continue bringing food to their young chicks even during the flying displays, waiting for our birds to fly away from the box before making a rapid dash in and out of the opening.
