Members Newsletter August 2008Centre NewsWe have had two firsts in the hospital, our first Red kite and our first Peregrine, both are doing really well and should be released soon. We have also helped with breeding programs at two other centres. One centre has taken a pair of Little owls and the other centre has taken a pair of Little owls, Tawny owls, Buzzards and Marsh Harriers. All the birds have settled in and are doing well. There have been several new arrivals at the centre. Dollar is a young Bald Eagle that is severely disabled and we have given it life care. Last year our much loved Long Eared owl Squeak passed away, to follow in her wing beats we have a young Long Eared owl called Fiver. It’s been a long time coming but finally our three female Black kites have got a male to keep them company. Breaking news at last our Kookaburra's have hatched and raised two youngsters, one has been passed onto another centre, the other is being hand reared by staff at the centre. The next step is to train him to fly, watch this space. Hospital NewsMay 2008 - July 2008.
New Member CommentsIt is always great to get feedback from our members, below is an email we received recently from the Smith family. As new family members at the Foundation we can only say great things about your establishment and the fantastic work you and your team do. Without all their hard work and effort, and looking after all the wonderful different birds you have I'm sure it would be hard for you to maintain such high standards. We were also amazed at the efforts you went to put on the members BBQ, my wife, three sons and I were impressed with the variety of food laid on, and there were scrummy desserts too which really topped off the meal. What's more we were made to feel part of your organisation and allowed to see some of the things that go on behind the scenes that normally are off limits to most people. If there was one negative on the night, it was the lack of support from other members. On a final note, I would like to thank all of the staff for their enthusiasm and attention they gave us along with all the hard work that made this event a success. The Smith Family Meet the team..Tom Mcinally, StaffWe caught up with Tom Mcinally and asked him about his experiences at the Raptor Foundation; here is what he had to say.
